Robert:

Asymmetric information is one of mankind’s biggest issues. A party with significantly more information about a deal’s object is incentivised to rip off the other. Dentists, real-estate agents, and technicians do this quite often.

Occultism is simply an extreme level of informational asymmetry. Hide the truth about solar cycles, and claim “climate change” for your own profit!

Do your own research and share what you find.

Robert:

Structural simplicity is not necessarily visual simplicity. Modular devices are structurally simple, but often physically bulky. MacBook power bricks are visually simple, but structurally too complex to be repaired.

Philosophically, structural simplicity is the one to prioritise. Form follows function.

⁂

Designing a webstead around the avoidance of CSS leads to a reduction in bloat and an improvement in structure.

It also makes plain sense. Visitors are already setting their preferences, whether font size, color theme, or window width. I’m just extending this way of thinking to style sheets, which can be customised thru browsers.

I’m happy to have my webstead listed in the No-CSS Club. Some day, this blog too will wave goodbye to cascades.

Robert:

I work no matter what, because that’s what we, men, are supposed to do. In fact, we need to work more — so future generations aren’t faced with work that is even more threatening. Work should ideally be a favorite pastime; working time directives and many child labor restrictions should be axed.

Work ethic is essential; there is no excuse for bad work.

A lot of good work sadly goes unsung: few think about the unseen effort that it takes to keep society running smoothly. To all the invisible workers: thank you for your service.

Freedom spurs good work and creativity. Minimum wage legislation should be cancelled: it steals opportunities from beginners.

I seek work for what I will learn more than for what I will earn. I work selectively, in a flow state.

All of this said, the time people have to spend working should tend to zero: there should be no need for human work at all. Saying “TGIF” is a symptom of wage slavery.

Robert:

European clocks will be dialled forward by one hour tonight. This clock-switching ritual is not just pointless, but also deadly: heart attacks rise by about 24% in the days after the spring forward. Let tonight be the last time that it ever happens (and not because we end up in a nuclear holocaust).

In any case, it is best to focus on natural rhythms — like heartbeats, sleepiness, the sun’s position, and outdoor brightness — instead of paying heed to the clock time. Alarm clocks destroy sleep quality by agitating the body into overriding its ideals; I’ve actually had a nightmare about having to wake up to one.

Robert:

There is nothing inherently evil about 15-minute neighborhoods and cities. It only makes sense to reduce the time it takes to get from one place to another.

This is best achieved by making smart, positive changes that follow a long-term vision. These may include relocating customer-support offices to the city centre, building underground tunnels for garbage trucks & other service vehicles, and generally eliminating the need (not the right) to use a car.

Government-planning, meanwhile, kills people with its arrogance. We must not allow our cities to become district-apartheid mass-surveillance lockdown prisons that coerce us to follow overlords’ demands. Mandatory kill-switches & speed-limits must be abolished, and surveillance satellites removed from orbit.
